The History of Ford
Henry Ford set up the Ford Motor Company in 1903. He had a dream to produce an automobile that was reasonably priced and reliable. The Model T was the first car released in 1908 and was an instant success for the business.
The model became a popular vehicle for the American Military in World War One. They also produced the Ford 3-Ton M1918 tank and the 1916 ambulance.
Henry and his son acquired all the interests of the minority stockholders in 1919, which saw them become the company’s sole owners.
In 1941 Ford began producing keeps for the US military. They also built several automobiles, planes, tanks and aircraft engines for the war effort.
In 1966 Ford won the 24 Hours Le Mans Race beating their rivals Ferrari for the first time with the Ford GT40. They then went on to win it for the following three years.
In 1976 the now-famous Ford Fiesta was launched in Europe. This car is today one of the top-selling cars in Ireland.
Ford is investing in electric cars just like other carmakers today. They now have several electric vehicles, including the Mustang Mach-E and the Ford E-Transit, which are shipping in 2022.
